Nature Care Challenge | April 2019: Dip Your Clothes in Sun

Posted on April 1, 2019April 18, 2021 by Malu

If there is one home appliance we don’t need, its a laundry dryer. An average dryer used by an average European household emits 210kg of CO2 per year. But why though?? Just hang dry your washing! The sun is giving us her energy for free and even if the sun is not shining, hanging inside…

Nature Care Challenge | March 2019: Sustainable Drinking on the Go

Posted on March 1, 2019April 18, 2021 by Malu

This month, I challenge you to do something that you possibly already do: Use a keep cup. Keep cups are replacements for the single-use to-go cups made from waxed paper or plastic. Keep cups have become more and more fashionable lately and you can get them made from bio plastic (not recommended for any beverage…

Nature Care Challenge | February 2019: Wearing Clothes Better

Posted on February 1, 2019April 18, 2021 by Malu

If you live in the Northern hemisphere, I challenge you to turn your heating down by at least two degrees Celsius (or 3.6°F) and instead wear a sweater (a real one). At night, turn the heating all the way down. I promise you, you will sleep better in a cool room. Lowering the temperature in…

Nature Care Challenge | January 2019: “SHOP STOP”

Posted on January 1, 2019April 18, 2021 by Malu

Many things that are wrong with the world right now can be traced back to our consumerism-single-use-throw-away culture. Cheap overproduction drains our resources, destroys forests and other habitats, exploits people, poisons our waters and the ground and covers us in items that are shitty quality, thus immediately broken and dumped. About me

My name is Malu. I am a conservation-ecologist currently living in Germany. I’ve always been wild about the outdoors and can spend hours looking at an insect labouring away at its daily challenges, or a bird building its nest, or … there’s just so much amazing stuff happening out there! I’m really glad you’ve made it onto this page so I can share my joy with you.

Monthly Challenges

We only have about 6 to 8 years left to turn this environmental mess of a ship around. So much has to happen politically, but the people also need to change habits and start to appreciate our environment more. So every 1st of the month I post a nature care challenge with environmentally friendly lifestyle choices of habits for you to try for 30 days and, if you like, let it stick with you for longer, maybe even for life.

Lots of little droplets make up the largest ocean.

Are you absolutely unable to do the current challenge? Or maybe you are underwhelmed with the challenge and want an extra one? Check out the previous challenges to see if there is something you would like to try.

The challenges  make up the major part in the flow of posts here, so they are easy to find. But if you want to get a good overview of the challenges set so far, simply follow the link below.

Do you want to set next month’s sustainability challenge?

Contact me and pitch your challenge to me. It might be up next month. You can either write the whole challenge, and why we should do it, or just give me an idea for something to look into.
