Nature Care Challenge | April 2020: Media Meetings

Posted on April 1, 2020April 18, 2021 by Malu

Hello friends! How are you doing in these crazy Corona-infested times? Are you #SocialDistancing and #FlattenTheCurve -ing? Is your life completely upside down or is it more like mine: hasn’t really changed at all and left me wondering if I’m an antisocial weirdo. I Shop Stopped a long time ago, so I didn’t notice when…

Nature Care Challenge | March 2020: Chem-Free Cleaning

Posted on March 1, 2020April 18, 2021 by Malu

Have you ever looked on the back of your bathroom cleaning agent and saw that little icon with the dead fish and naked tree on it? As a child I always felt horrible for the poor fish. What it means, is that the product you’re about to flush down your toilet and sink and shower…

Nature Care Challenge | February 2020: Stoßlüften

Posted on February 1, 2020April 18, 2021 by Malu

It is still winter. That means lots of cuddly times with books, tea, knitting and podcasts for me. Well, trying to knit at least. But all that indoor activity and trying to ward off the cold means the air inside can get quite stale. I’ve recently noticed, how many people tip their windows for fresh…

Nature Care Challenge | December 2019: Wrap Up Nicely

Posted on December 1, 2019April 18, 2021 by Malu

Oh look! It’s another festive season! Its the season for panicked shopping and stress-relieve-decorating. Aaaaah consumerism! Let us bury ourselves in garbage! Yes, I have been called a Grinch before, but hear me out: I’m a fan of Greta Thunberg and in a recent interview I saw on the Ellen Show, I learned her top…

Nature Care Challenge | November 2019: Share Food

Posted on November 1, 2019April 18, 2021 by Malu

About a quarter of all our greenhouse gas emissions are accounted to forestry and agriculture. Modern agriculture is one of the big contributors to habitat loss and the resulting extinction of way too many species already. To make it worse, about a third (!) of the food produced globally is lost or wasted. That’s about…

Nature Care Challenge | October 2019: Swap Clothes

Posted on October 1, 2019April 18, 2021 by Malu

At the risk of repeating myself, consumerism is bad for the planet. Which is why cutting down your consumption of things to what you actually NEED to be new, is a great way to love our mother earth better (I’m feeling very tree-huggy today). One thing we do not need to buy new, especially not…

Nature Care Challenge | September 2019: Cycle Everywhere

Posted on September 1, 2019April 18, 2021 by Malu

Cycling keeps you fit, while it’s easy on your knees. It makes you happy. Seriously, count smiles on cyclists versus people in cars.It wakes you up and gets your mind sharp and ready for logic and creativity. It can also be a nice unwind and meditative moment in-between to do’s or at the end of…

Nature Care Challenge | August 2019: Short Distance Holidays

Posted on August 1, 2019April 18, 2021 by Malu

I just talked to someone who was upset about circumstances threatening to make flights from Germany to Mallorca more expensive and how that is a social injustice. But when did it get justifiable for anyone, regardless of income, to fly for just a long weekend? This month I challenge you, to have a look around…

Nature Care Challenge | July 2019: Refuse Single-Use Utensils

Posted on July 1, 2019April 18, 2021 by Malu

You already might be a pro sustainable take-away-hot-bevarage-drinker by now, but what about everything else? This month I challenge you to refuse all SINGLE USE forks, spoons, knives, chop sticks, straws and water bottles. Instead, have a look for easy, pop-in-your-bag alternatives that you can carry with you and whip out whenever you need them…

About me

My name is Malu. I am a conservation-ecologist currently living in Germany. I’ve always been wild about the outdoors and can spend hours looking at an insect labouring away at its daily challenges, or a bird building its nest, or … there’s just so much amazing stuff happening out there! I’m really glad you’ve made it onto this page so I can share my joy with you.

Monthly Challenges

We only have about 6 to 8 years left to turn this environmental mess of a ship around. So much has to happen politically, but the people also need to change habits and start to appreciate our environment more. So every 1st of the month I post a nature care challenge with environmentally friendly lifestyle choices of habits for you to try for 30 days and, if you like, let it stick with you for longer, maybe even for life.

Lots of little droplets make up the largest ocean.

Are you absolutely unable to do the current challenge? Or maybe you are underwhelmed with the challenge and want an extra one? Check out the previous challenges to see if there is something you would like to try.

The challenges  make up the major part in the flow of posts here, so they are easy to find. But if you want to get a good overview of the challenges set so far, simply follow the link below.

Do you want to set next month’s sustainability challenge?

Contact me and pitch your challenge to me. It might be up next month. You can either write the whole challenge, and why we should do it, or just give me an idea for something to look into.
