Nature Care Challenge | March 2021: Guerilla Gardening

Posted on March 1, 2021February 10, 2022 by Malu

The pandemic is still here! Depending where you live, you might not be able to anything really. Here in Germany, the sun suddenly came out and declared springtime. Everyone is out and taking walks. They pass by my mothers garden, which is now again filled with crocusses, snowdrops and “winterlings” as they are called in…

Warming Winter Breakfast Oats

Posted on February 10, 2021October 18, 2021 by Malu

It snowed! It’s cold! And I decided to get back into the habit of having fruit for breakfast. There is not a lot of fruit in the middle of winter but thankfully the freezer is full of things from when the garden was full of food. I just made something with what I had, and…

11 Food-Blogs for Overwhelmed Vegan Beginners

Posted on January 16, 2021October 18, 2021 by Malu

Veganism saves the planet. Omitting animal products from your diet helps prevent loss of habitat, climate change, water pollution and animal cruelty. So the obvious thing to do is be as vegan as you can. But it can be so hard! Especially when you don’t have any inspiration on what to eat and you are…

Posted on October 10, 2020October 18, 2021 by Malu

Ugh! I had a technical fail and never realized this Post didn’t upload when I told it to, just before hastily closing my laptop. So this one is a little belated. But on the plus side, now I can add pictures of my latest protest adventures during a pandemic. Times are crazy and the destruction…

Nature Care Challenge | August 2020: That Thing About Packaging

Posted on August 1, 2020April 18, 2021 by Malu

Hello lovely people! This month, I have a challenge that is also still a challenge for me, rather than already a habit. This month I challenge you to buy only package-free! I find this hard. Especially after a long day at work it is much easier to stop at the supermarket on the way, rather…

Wild Herb Butter

Posted on July 19, 2020April 18, 2021 by Malu

Summertime! And the livin’ is easy… especially when you know a thing or two about wild herbs and foraging. I’m just cruising around stuffing my face with wild berries and leaves these days. So I had the idea to show you a few and give you a very simple recipe for a super tasty buttery…

Nature Care Challenge | July 2020: Zero Food Waste

Posted on July 1, 2020April 18, 2021 by Malu

An average western household throws away about 1/4 of the food they buy. Considering the carbon footprint, the land cleared to grow crops and the amount of people going to bed hungry in the world, 1/4 is simply not acceptable. This month I challenge you to cut your food waste to Zero. And here are…

Great News for Pangolins!!!

Posted on June 17, 2020April 18, 2021 by Malu

I just got the best news on my e-mail feed! China has taken pangolin scales off their list of approved ingredients for traditional medicine. I love pangolins! They are right up there in my top 3 favourite weirdos. They are little termite eating creatures covered in scales from head to toe, with long sticky tongues…

About me

My name is Malu. I am a conservation-ecologist currently living in Germany. I’ve always been wild about the outdoors and can spend hours looking at an insect labouring away at its daily challenges, or a bird building its nest, or … there’s just so much amazing stuff happening out there! I’m really glad you’ve made it onto this page so I can share my joy with you.

Monthly Challenges

We only have about 6 to 8 years left to turn this environmental mess of a ship around. So much has to happen politically, but the people also need to change habits and start to appreciate our environment more. So every 1st of the month I post a nature care challenge with environmentally friendly lifestyle choices of habits for you to try for 30 days and, if you like, let it stick with you for longer, maybe even for life.

Lots of little droplets make up the largest ocean.

Are you absolutely unable to do the current challenge? Or maybe you are underwhelmed with the challenge and want an extra one? Check out the previous challenges to see if there is something you would like to try.

The challenges  make up the major part in the flow of posts here, so they are easy to find. But if you want to get a good overview of the challenges set so far, simply follow the link below.

Do you want to set next month’s sustainability challenge?

Contact me and pitch your challenge to me. It might be up next month. You can either write the whole challenge, and why we should do it, or just give me an idea for something to look into.
